Our "Baby" Kate is now officially "Big Girl" Kate. Her 3rd birthday was December 28 and trust me I say we celebrated her birthday for almost an entire month. I guess that's what happens when your birthday is right after Christmas and in between a 2 week holiday from school. Her preschool recognized her birthday before Christmas break, then as a family we celebrated on her actual birthday, and we ended the month of celebration with an owl themed birthday party this past weekend with some of her friends. Some may say this sounds excessive and they are probably right but we had fun spoiling her anyways. Here's a recap of the celebrations.
On her birthday (December 28) we took Kate to Build a Bear to build her first bear and then enjoyed dinner at a local Mexican restaurant.
Then this past Friday we had several of Kate's friends over for an owl themed painting party. The children enjoyed dinner, playing, and painting ceramic owls.
A friend of ours made this beautiful owl cake. It may have been the highlight of Kate's birthday or was a close second when compared to the Dora shoes Aunt Kimmy and Uncle Charlie gave her. No pictures of the shoes yet, I am waiting to find the perfect outfit... :-)
