Flashback Friday - 3/25/2011

This blog post is the last thing on my "to do" list before we head out for a long weekend in Hilton Head with family and friends. This picture was taken in November 2009 on Hilton Head Island and it's one of my favorite pictures. Maddy was chasing birds, I was pregnant with Kate, and David was studying for the Georgia Bar. I can't see Maddy's face but I know exactly what she was thinking in this picture "wow, this water is cold." Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Monkey Joe's

Admittedly I've kinda kept Monkey Joe's a secret from Maddy. She loves bouncy houses and all things inflatable so I knew once she went that's all she would talk about and would want to go there all the time. Well today we finally took Maddy and Kate to Monkey Joe's in Warner Robins. We went with our regular entourage (Mimi and Aunt Kimmy) and we added Ms. Peggy into the mix today. After all, it was her idea. :-) Thank you Ms. Peggy for spoiling us with such a fun playdate! We had so much fun and as I type Maddy is eating her leftover pizza and Kate is still sleeping. On the way home Maddy said "I love Ms. Peggy she's so fun!" I agree with Maddy, Ms. Peggy is so fun. :-)

All that bouncing and running made for some really cute pictures so be sure to look at the web album for more pictures. The blog will be slow next week. We leave tomorrow for the beach and then Nana and Grandaddy come to town for a visit so we'll be busy showing them the sights! Don't worry we'll blog all about it once we get back. :-)

Cherry Blossom Balloon Glow

This evening we took Maddy and Kate to the Cherry Blossom Festival Balloon Glow. We packed a picnic dinner and enjoyed a nice evening watching the hot air balloons. It also happened to be Kate's first picnic dinner and she loved it. Of course because it's Cherry Blossom time we had to sit on a pink blanket and use pink plates. The last time I went to the balloon glow it was held at Wesleyan College and I was probably about 16 and had no idea that eventually I would be living back in Macon much less bring my own daughters.
The girls loved the balloons. Kate kept saying "what's that" and Maddy wanted to tie one of the balloons on our car and bring it home. :-) The picture below is a link to our Web Album with all the pictures from today.

Flashback Friday - 3/18/2011

It's been a crazy day around our house so forgive me for the late edition of Flashback Friday. Better late than never! Today I am sharing pictures from March 2008. This is Maddy at about 14 months old in our front yard in North Carolina. So sweet! We still have that sweater but I thought it would be torture for Kate to wear it seeing as it was 85 degrees in Macon today.

Build a Bear

Today Uncle Charlie and Aunt Kimmy took Maddy to Build a Bear Workshop. Kate and I tagged along to take pictures of the big event. Building a bear was their birthday present to Maddy. Maddy was so excited about it, every time we pass the store she always says "I wish I could go there."

She picked out a cute pink multicolored bear and had a blast stuffing, fluffing, and dressing her very own bear. It was a lot of fun to watch her pick everything out. Before check out Maddy named her bear "My little Heart." Kind of a funny name for a bear but it's cute. Sometimes I wonder what's going on in that brain of hers. :-)

We ended our trip with a little ice cream and then headed home. Maddy loves her bear. She's dressed it over and over again and as I write this she is napping on the couch with "My little heart." Thank you Aunt Kimmy and Uncle Charlie for a fun afternoon!

Moo, Baa, La La La

Just the other night David asked me "didn't Maddy make animal noises at this age?" This was in reference to Kate and how she hasn't made any animal noises yet. But she does do a very good impression of a car driving.  Vroommmm.... (Think she might be our tomboy)

After lunch today we were in playroom and Kate walks in from her bedroom with the book Moo Baa La La La by Sandra Boynton. It was one of Maddy's favorites at this age and we read it to Kate everyday. If you can't tell by the title it's a book about animal noises. Kate opens to the first page and goes "Moooooo!" I look up and she is pointing to the cow in the book. Yea Kate!

What's so funny is that when Kate "moos" she puts her whole body into it. Scrunces her nose, squints her eyes, and if she's standing she squats into "moo'ing" position. :-) I can't get her to do it on camera but if you see her in person ask her what a cow says.... It's Bury Cute. Ha!

Flashback Friday 3/4/2011

Nine years ago I woke up to this....

Room service breakfast served on our private patio.

And this.....

View of Kapalua Bay from hotel lobby.
This week David and I celebrated our ninth wedding anniversary so for this Friday's Flashback it seemed appropriate to share some pictures from our honeymoon in Maui. We were blessed with an amazing wedding and honeymoon. Our honeymoon was mostly funded by frequent flier miles and hotel reward points.

At the time David was a consultant and traveled every single week Monday-Friday. Meaning every Sunday night David flew out the Atlanta airport, stayed in a modest hotel all week, then returned back to Atlanta Thursday or Friday evening... He did this for 3 years. He saved all those "points" and cashed them in to take me on an amazing honeymoon in Maui. We stayed in Kapalua, went whale watching, took a helicopter tour, drove to Hana, and spent a lot of time relaxing at the beach...like I said it was amazing.

Well shortly after we were married we realized that his travel schedule was not going to work for us. That was one of the reasons he decided to go back to school. And here we are a law degree, two law licences, two kids, and a dog later... I'll admit that sometimes we miss those frequent flier miles but neither one of us would trade what we have now for all those "points."

This blog post is brought to you by the letter "P"

This week in Maddy's class they are studying the letter "P". So in honor of all things letter "P" her class had a pajama party today. No pajama party would be complete without pancakes and pink milk for snack! I tried to snap pictures of all the girls in their PJ's this morning but I may have missed someone, sorry if I did.

PS... 9 years ago today I married my best friend. When we walked down the Hay House stairs and got into our car that night I had no idea our life would turn out the way it has. It's way better than I ever imagined. Happy Anniversary David, thank you for loving me!
